Day 1 – Arrive in New Delhi

Your adventure begins in the vibrant capital of India. On arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to rest, explore nearby bazaars, or savour your first chai while people-watching in a bustling street café. This evening, gather with your travel companions for a welcome briefing before tomorrow’s flight into the mountains.

Day 2 – Delhi to Leh – Gateway to the Himalayas

A spectacular morning flight carries you over snow-clad peaks into the high-altitude desert of Ladakh. As you step off the plane in Leh, the crisp mountain air and vast blue skies greet you. Today is all about gentle acclimatisation — wander to the serene Shanti Stupa, soak in the sweeping views over the Indus Valley, and stroll through Leh’s colourful markets, camera in hand for spontaneous portraits and street scenes.

Day 3 – Leh – Monastic Heritage & Golden Light

Awaken to the sound of fluttering prayer flags and the scent of juniper incense. This morning, photograph the graceful monks of Thiksey Monastery as they chant their morning prayers, followed by a visit to the grand Hemis Monastery, where ancient thangkas and gilded statues reveal centuries of devotion. Return to Leh for an afternoon at the atmospheric Leh Palace, and as the sun dips, capture the city bathed in golden Himalayan light.

Day 4 – Leh to Hunder – Over the Mighty Khardung La

Today, your journey crosses one of the highest motorable passes on Earth — Khardung La. Pause at the summit to breathe in the thin air and frame endless ranges of jagged peaks in your viewfinder. Descend into the enchanting Nubra Valley, a lush ribbon of green flanked by barren mountains. At day’s end, the dunes of Hunder await — a surreal landscape where Bactrian camels plod through soft sand at sunset.

Day 5 – Nubra Valley – Villages, Hot Springs & Starlight

Start the day in Sumoor village, where whitewashed homes, barley fields, and friendly locals offer authentic glimpses of Ladakhi rural life. Later, unwind at Panamic’s natural hot springs before an afternoon along the Shyok River, where light dances on the water and willows sway gently in the breeze. After nightfall, step into a world of silence and stars — a perfect setting for astro-photography.

Day 6 – Nubra to Pangong Lake

Follow the Shyok River on a drive filled with dramatic cliffs, winding gorges, and nomadic settlements. As you crest the final rise, Pangong Lake shimmers into view — a vast expanse of turquoise that shifts to sapphire, emerald, and gold as the day unfolds. Evening photography here is pure magic, with reflections so perfect they seem unreal.

Day 7 – Pangong to Hanle – Into the Remote Highlands

Leaving Pangong behind, venture deeper into Ladakh’s wild frontier. Vast plains stretch to the horizon, dotted with kiang (wild asses) and soaring eagles. Arrive in Hanle, a tiny settlement famed for its monastery and astronomical observatory. As night falls, the inky sky comes alive with the brilliance of the Milky Way, offering one of the clearest night skies in the world.

Day 8 – Hanle – Mountains & the Milky Way

Spend the morning exploring Hanle Monastery, perched on a hill with commanding views over the valley. The rest of the day is yours to chase light across stark deserts and hidden canyons. After sunset, set up your tripod for long exposures, capturing constellations and the galactic core in awe-inspiring detail.

Day 9 – Hanle to Umling La – Touching the Sky

Today takes you to Umling La, at nearly 6,000 metres, one of the highest motorable passes on Earth. The drive is a photographer’s dream — winding roads, barren ridges, and a sense of pure remoteness. From the top, the panorama is nothing short of epic, stretching across the roof of the world. Return to Hanle for a final night of stargazing.

Day 10 – Hanle to Leh – The Long Road Home

Retrace your route through sweeping valleys and isolated hamlets, each turn revealing another postcard-perfect scene. Arrive in Leh by late afternoon, with time for last-minute shopping or one final walk through the old town’s labyrinthine lanes.

Day 11 – Leh to Delhi – Farewell to the Mountains

An early morning flight whisks you back over the Himalayas to Delhi, where your journey concludes. You leave Ladakh with a collection of photographs — and memories — that will stay vivid long after your return home.
