10 Nights & 11 Days
This wildlife journey combines the misty Himalayan forests of Singalila National Park in West Bengal with the vibrant grasslands of Kaziranga National Park in Assam. In Singalila, walk through rhododendron and mixed high-altitude forests in search of the endangered Red Panda, a rare and captivating species found only in this region. The park is also home to over 300 bird species, including Himalayan pheasants, parrotbills, laughingthrushes, and high-altitude raptors. Along the trails, enjoy sweeping views of the Himalayas, with possible sightings of Mount Kanchenjunga providing a spectacular natural backdrop.
From the Himalayan ridges, the journey moves east to the Brahmaputra floodplains of Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its thriving populations of Greater One-Horned Rhinoceroses, Asian Elephants, Bengal Tigers, swamp deer, wild buffalo, and an abundance of wetland birds. Here, expert-guided jeep safaris, optional elephant-back safaris, and boat rides immerse you in a water-rich ecosystem teeming with life. Together, Singalila and Kaziranga showcase two dramatically different yet equally breathtaking ecosystems, offering rare wildlife encounters, diverse landscapes, and unforgettable photography opportunities in some of India’s most scenic wilderness areas.
You arrive in New Delhi where a representative greets you at the airport and escorts you to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of the day is free to relax, recover from your journey, and prepare for the adventure that lies ahead.
An early morning flight takes you to Guwahati, followed by a scenic five-hour drive through tea gardens and Assamese villages to reach Kaziranga National Park. After a freshly prepared lunch at the lodge, you set out on your first jeep safari through the tall elephant grass and wetlands, catching your first glimpse of Kaziranga’s famed Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros along with elephants, swamp deer, and rich birdlife.
The next two days are dedicated to morning and afternoon jeep safaris in different zones of Kaziranga, each revealing new aspects of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Misty dawn drives bring sightings of rhinos grazing in golden light, while afternoons offer encounters with elephants, wild buffalo, and the park’s incredible diversity of birdlife, from eagles and storks to migratory cranes and flamingos. Between safaris, the lodge provides comfort, warm meals, and time to absorb the wilderness around you.
After breakfast, you depart Kaziranga for Guwahati airport and board your flight to Bagdogra, where the Himalayan leg of your journey begins. A four-hour drive brings you to Manebhanjan, the gateway to Singalila National Park, where you switch into a vintage Land Rover for a rugged climb through rhododendron forests and ridgelines before arriving at a cozy homestay deep in Red Panda country.
The day begins with bird activity around the homestay before you head out with expert trackers on a full-day Red Panda tracking experience. Walking through bamboo groves and rhododendron corridors, you follow signs of wildlife in one of the few places on Earth where Red Pandas can be seen in the wild, with the Kanchenjunga Massif often providing a breathtaking backdrop when the skies are clear.
Over the next three days, the rhythm of mountain life takes hold as you continue Red Panda tracking expeditions, each day offering new opportunities to spot these elusive creatures and enjoy Singalila’s exceptional birdlife. With more than 300 species, the park is a paradise for birders, where sightings of Blood Pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Fire-tailed Myzornis, and parrotbills are common. Treks bring you to ridgelines like Sandakphu, the highest point in West Bengal, where the Kanchenjunga Range—also called the Sleeping Buddha—glows at sunrise and sunset. The homestay experience adds depth to your journey, as you share meals and stories with locals who dedicate a part of their work to Red Panda conservation.
After a final morning in the Himalayas, you drive back to Bagdogra for your afternoon flight to New Delhi. On arrival, you are met once more by your representative and transferred to your hotel, where the evening is free to relax and reflect on the extraordinary journey you have just completed.
On your final day, after breakfast, you transfer to the international airport for your flight home or onward destination, carrying with you memories of misty grasslands, snow-clad ridges, and two of India’s most enchanting wildernesses—Kaziranga and Singalila.
