11 Night & 12 Day
The very name conjures all that is most untamed, enigmatic and fleeting in the natural world – for this is a creature wrapped not only in the delicate splendor of its own fur but also in the epic drama of the raw, majestic terrain it inhabits. A striking contrast lies between these granite-tough mountain dwellers and the serene, joyful Buddhism they follow. You’ll have the chance to explore their grand monasteries and charming hamlets.
Yet it’s the landscape that leaves the deepest impression – towering, serrated peaks in muted hues cascading into glowing green barley fields, orchards of apple and apricot, and lush water meadows beneath brilliant, cobalt skies. Each bend in the trail, each curve of the mountain road reveals awe-inspiring panoramas of valleys and summits; of fractured cliffs blooming with wild rose and crystal-clear brooks shaded by willow trees.
And it offers remarkable variety – from the elevated steppes of the Changthang where herds of wild yaks, asses and antelope roam alongside wolves and snow leopards, to the saline lakes of Tso Moriri and Tso Kar, and up to sky-high mountain passes like Taglang La and Khardung La. This diversity of terrain shelters an equally rich range of bird and animal life. In a world growing ever more uniform and indistinct, Ladakh endures as a rare remnant of an Earth once shaped by the unique identity of every region.
On arrival at New Delhi airport, our representative will receive you, transfer you to your hotel, assist with check-in, and hand over travel documents while briefing you on your upcoming tour.
At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board your flight from Delhi to Leh. Upon arrival in Leh, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize to the high altitude. In the evening, if you’re feeling up to it, we will take a gentle stroll to explore the Leh Market.
We begin the day at dawn with a visit to Thiksey Monastery to attend the morning prayer ceremony—an unforgettable experience deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Built in 1630, Thiksey is one of the most impressive monasteries in Ladakh.
Later, we will drive along the Indus River and stop for photos of the beautiful Stakna Monastery, viewed from across the river. After returning to the hotel for lunch, we’ll head out in the evening to visit Shanti Stupa—a Peace Pagoda built by the Japanese in the 1980s. The stupa offers panoramic views of Leh town and the surrounding Ladakh mountain range.
Check out from your Leh hotel and set off on a scenic 3-hour drive to the lodge, passing through dramatic landscapes with the possibility of spotting the elusive and majestic Urial. Arrive in time for a hearty lunch. After your meal, unwind and enjoy the panoramic views from the deck. As the evening sets in, join your guide for a pre-dinner briefing to learn about the upcoming experiences and the fascinating wildlife of the region. The day concludes with a delightful dinner before you retire for the night.
Over the next six days, we’ll explore the remote valleys depending on our base as we search for the elusive Snow Leopard. There is no rigid itinerary; each day unfolds based on the insights of our expert local trackers. These skilled spotters begin scanning the mountains at dawn, using their deep knowledge of the terrain to guide us to the most promising locations for sightings.
We stay in constant radio contact with the spotters, ensuring we can quickly move when a Snow Leopard is seen. Private 4WD vehicles will be available at all times, offering both flexibility and comfort. Sightings often occur on high ridges close to the lodge or within a short walk from our vehicles. For those seeking more adventure, extended hikes can be arranged. Between outings, the lodge provides a warm, inviting space to relax, complete with hot drinks and a cozy atmosphere.
After breakfast, we bid a warm farewell to the lodge team and our dedicated spotters, then begin the scenic drive back to Leh. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy the comforts of city life once again.
An early morning flight whisks you back over the Himalayas to Delhi, where your journey concludes. You leave Ladakh with a collection of photographs and memories that will stay vivid long after your return home.
